5 Delicious Vegan Appetizers

As you may already know, our team here at Haumana creates a new vegan bar every month, which means we are dedicated to finding recipes that use no animal derived ingredients. This dedication has led us to discover how many different and interesting vegan recipes are out there in blogs or in other vegan websites. Nowadays, it's pretty easy to find vegan recipes for just about any full meal that you can think of on the internet. But what about recipes for starter dishes like vegan appetizers? Those can be a bit harder to find, but with a little bit of searching, you can find so many unique and interesting recipes out there made by vegan chefs and bloggers. Supporting vegan options is always very important to us, which is why we've made a list of our 5 favorite vegan appetizers that are delicious and easy to make!

First off, what exactly is an appetizer?

An appetizer, or a starter dish, is usually described as "a small dish that stimulates one's hunger". An appetizer is usually taken before a full meal so it's important for it to be a light dish that doesn't feel too filling. Some appetizers can be served cold, for example vegetables, salad and fruits, while other appetizers can be served hot, like bread or soup. Appetizers usually set the scene for the main course and are considered an important part of the dining experience.

You could think of this current section of the article as an appetizer for the main course. So without further ado, let’s move on to the main course which is the list of our 5 favorite vegan appetizer recipes:

2) Sheet Pan Nachos with vegan dip

Nachos recipes are always great, but they often come with a dip that has cheese or meat in it, which is a no-go for vegans. This recipe by Jeanine Donofrio (from the Love & Lemons blog) features a vegan friendly dip made of beans, jalapeño, quinoa and guacamole, topped with a generous coating of cashew cream. It’s simple and easy to make, and it is absolutely as good as it sounds.

Vegan AirFryer Pasta

If you are the proud owner of an air-fryer, you absolutely have to try out Pasta Chips. They might sound a bit strange at first, but they are surprisingly good, especially if you are a fan of crunchy snacks. All you have to do is to cook the pasta normally (we usually use tortiglioni), season it and then add it to the air-fryer! It only takes about 35 minutes total, and you’ll have a batch of delicious crispy pasta to serve. This recipe by Julianne (from the blog No Sweat Vegan) is very easy to follow, and gives great crunchy results.

Total Time: 35 minutes

4) Oven Baked Sweet Potato Vegan Chips

Chips are always a great snack, especially when they’re homemade. This veggie chip recipe from Veronika (The Healthful Ideas blog), reveals the secret to making the chips crispy: patience! This recipe also gives you a great alternative to regular potato chips.

5) Vegan Bruschetta

Last but not least, here is our favorite bruschetta recipe, a classic vegan snack that is just as tasty as it is healthy. The ingredient list is simple: Tomatoes, Onions, garlic and basil topped on a baguette. This recipe from Sonja (A Couple Cooks) shows how to make simple and tasty bruschetta without soaking the bread with the juice of the tomatoes.
